Whether you are specifying instrumentation for a new project, upgrading an existing installation, or selecting a sensor for a specific application, this guide will help you understand what our equipment offers and how to match it to your requirements.
Our Water Level Sensor Product Range
We supply six core water level sensor technologies, each available in multiple product families and configurations. Every product line is supported by detailed datasheets, installation guides, and technical support.
Ultrasonic Water Level Sensors
Our ultrasonic water level sensors use non-contact acoustic time-of-flight measurement to provide continuous level monitoring in tanks, reservoirs, channels, and open vessels. They are the preferred choice where immersion in the liquid is not desirable, and are our most widely deployed technology across municipal, agricultural, and industrial applications.
Our UWS-100 Series is the standard industrial ultrasonic sensor for general-purpose tank and reservoir monitoring. Key specifications: measurement range 0.25 to 10 metres, accuracy +/- 0.25% full scale, IP68 protection rated for continuous submersion, and outputs including 4-20 mA current loop, 0-10 V voltage, and Modbus RTU (RS-485) for SCADA integration. Operating temperature range is -20 to +60 degrees Celsius with integrated temperature compensation for reliable accuracy in outdoor environments. The PVDF transducer face provides chemical resistance for water and mildly aggressive liquids.
Our UWS-200 Series extends the range to 25 metres, making it suitable for large municipal reservoirs, industrial tanks, and open-channel applications. The narrow-beam option (5-degree beam angle) minimises false echoes from tank internals and narrow vessel walls. Modbus RTU output enables direct SCADA integration. The optional solar power kit – including low-power consumption management and a 20-watt solar panel with battery backup – supports fully off-grid installation in remote locations where grid power is unavailable.
Our UWS-300 hygienic ultrasonic sensor is designed for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical water applications. The sanitary tri-clamp process connection, electropolished 316L stainless steel housing, and FDA-compliant materials meet the hygiene requirements of food processing, brewing, and pharmaceutical water systems. Available with IO-Link output for modern industrial automation systems, enabling remote parameterisation and diagnostic data access without physical access to the sensor.
Radar Water Level Sensors
Our radar water level sensors use FMCW (frequency-modulated continuous wave) microwave technology to deliver the highest accuracy and reliability in demanding environments. They are unaffected by temperature gradients, surface turbulence, foam, steam, or wind – the factors that limit ultrasonic accuracy in challenging conditions.
Our RWS-400 FMCW radar sensor is the benchmark instrument for river gauging, reservoir monitoring, and exposed outdoor applications where wind, temperature variation, and surface conditions degrade ultrasonic performance. Key specifications: accuracy of +/- 0.5 mm, measurement range up to 40 metres, 4-degree beam angle for reliable measurement in narrow boreholes and shafts. Available with 4-20 mA, HART, and IO-Link outputs. The IP68-rated aluminium housing is designed for continuous outdoor exposure in all weather conditions.
Our RWS-500 compact radar sensor provides FMCW radar performance in a compact, cost-effective form factor for industrial process vessels and medium-sized tanks. Measurement range 0.5 to 15 metres, accuracy +/- 2 mm – sufficient for the majority of industrial water level applications at a significantly lower cost than the full-specification RWS-400. The PTFE antenna option provides chemical resistance for aggressive process liquids including acids, alkalis, and organic solvents.
Submersible Hydrostatic Pressure Sensors
Our submersible hydrostatic pressure water level sensors are designed for deployment in boreholes, wells, tanks, and sumps where immersion is the practical installation method.
Our HPS-600 submersible pressure sensor is available in ranges from 0 to 10 bar (approximately 0 to 100 metres water depth) to 0 to 100 bar. Titanium housing provides corrosion resistance for groundwater and wastewater applications. Shielded cable available up to 500 metres. Outputs: 4-20 mA, RS-485 Modbus RTU, and SDI-12.
Our HPS-700 vented (gauge) pressure sensor measures water level relative to atmospheric pressure using a vent tube, eliminating barometric pressure errors for improved accuracy in long-term environmental monitoring.
Float Switches
Our float switches are the workhorse point-level sensors in our product range, providing reliable, maintenance-free high-level and low-level alarm functions across water and wastewater applications.
Our FS-800 mechanically-actuated float switch uses a stainless steel or PP/PVDF float on a suspension cable. The hermetically sealed switching mechanism eliminates liquid ingress risk. Rated for currents up to 10 A at 250 V AC, allowing direct switching of small pumps and valves without an intermediate relay. Available in vertical rising float (sump and tank) and angled float (overflow alarm in limited headroom) configurations.
Our FS-900 dual-stage float switch combines two switching points in one float body, providing both a low-level alarm (or pump start) and a high-level alarm (or pump stop) from one sensor – reducing installation cost and complexity.
Capacitance Water Level Sensors
Our capacitance water level sensors provide continuous level measurement for applications where ultrasonic or pressure measurement is unsuitable due to liquid properties or tank configuration. Available in both contact (probe-immersed) and non-contact (through-tank-wall) configurations, they handle foam, surface turbulence, and variable dielectric conditions that challenge other technologies.
Our CPS-100 capacitance probe is designed for chemical storage tanks, process vessels, and non-conductive water tanks. The PTFE-coated probe provides chemical compatibility across the full range of water treatment chemicals – including coagulants, pH adjustment chemicals, and disinfectants – as well as food-grade liquids and industrial process waters. Probe lengths are available from 200 mm to 3,000 mm to match the tank depth. Outputs: 4-20 mA continuous output or switch output for level alarms. The sensitivity is adjustable to match the specific liquid dielectric properties, ensuring reliable detection across a wide range of aqueous solutions.
Our CPS-200 through-tank capacitance sensor mounts on the outside of non-metallic tank walls – including HDPE, polypropylene, fibreglass, and glass – enabling level measurement without any tank penetration. This makes it ideal for sealed tanks, hygienic applications where tank integrity must be maintained, and tanks where a process penetration is impractical. The sensitivity is adjustable to match the tank wall thickness (2 mm to 15 mm) and material, ensuring reliable detection through the wall without requiring the tank to be drained or opened.
Data Loggers and Telemetry
Our DL-300 data logger is a compact, battery-powered multi-channel logger compatible with all our sensor output types – 4-20 mA, 0-10 V, Modbus RTU, SDI-12, and digital inputs. Logs to internal memory (up to 2 million records) and transmits via cellular (4G/LTE), satellite (Iridium), or LoRaWAN. IP67-rated enclosure for outdoor installation.
Our TX-400 telemetry unit converts sensor data to MQTT, HTTP POST, or email alerts for cloud monitoring platforms, SCADA systems, or mobile devices. Configurable via web browser without specialised software.
